Yansa is partnering with, amongst other, the Zapotec community of Ixtepec to develop a 100MW community-owned wind farm. They’re operating in a region of Mexico that enjoys perfect conditions for wind power development—said to be 2nd best in the world. Yansa provides the technology, capital, training and the management structure for the project and plan to use energy revenues to fund community-led initiatives. They are working to make sure that renewable energy production empowers communities and generates positive social change--essentially putting people before profits.
SOCIAL IMPACT STRATEGY
The people of Ixtepec, Mexico identified areas as most critical to their prosperity and resilience. Revenue from Yansa’s planned wind farm will create positive change in line with the community’s self-defined values. A social impacts strategy allows Yansa to assess community needs, define metrics and targets, and quantify improvements.
